  1.   Last night: A crackling fire on a cool, crisp fall evening, good friends, drinks and music set the tone for a great last night in our neighborhood of 6 years, Del Ray. Staring into the fire as ‘blue eyes’ by the Cary Brothers played on the iPod had emotions and thoughts of waxing nostalgic stirring. Camera: iPhone 4S.

  2.   Opposite sunset. Beautiful sunset in the opposite direction looking east off of the top of the eastern continental divide from Dolly Sods, Bear Rocks, WV. Elevation 4,500 feet. The thunderhead in the distance gave us a nice light show after dark. Conditions were mostly clear, 63F, with 20-30 mph west winds. Camera: iPhone 3G,

  4.   12/26/2010: Another snowy shot to help cool you off on this sweltering summer day. Loblolly pines bend under the weight of over 1 foot of snow during the great VA Beach Christmas blizzard of 2010. Photo taken in Smithfield, VA. The storm dumped 16” of snow across southeastern Virginia. This kind of heavy snowfall is rare there. This was the most snow in one storm since the 1980’s. Camera: iPhone 3G

  5.   A nice icy cold photo to help cool us off on a very HOT mid July day. The great blizzard of 2010 left Alexandria, VA, & much of the Metropolitan Washington area looking more like snowy Colorado. Feb. 2010. 22” of snow fell in this one. 77” for the whole winter. Camera: iPhone 3G

  7.   4/24/2011: Severe thunderstorms just rolled through Old Town Alexandria, VA, and most of the D.C. Metro area. I got out ahead of the incoming storms to capture a few lightning shots. These storms produced some strong gusty winds, extremely heavy, blinding rain, and dime sized hail here in Del Ray. Here are a couple good ones that I captured. 14.   4/17/2011: Stepped outside and the skies had cleared.  Got a shot of the almost full moon with the zoom lens. It’s waxing 97%. Sunday night/ Monday morning it’s full.  Not too bad for such a small zoom lens and an amateur photographer. Photo is cropped to 1007x882, but still at full resolution. Taken 4/17/2011 - 2:32AM
